Speed Up Firefox By Disabling IPv6 DNS
On Ubuntu Linux, Firefox is slow because of its slow DNS resolving. By default, it tries IPV6 DNS, which is not necessary. Disabling IPV6 DNS may speed up Firefox. To do it, try following steps:
- Type about:config in the address bar of Firefox
- Type ipv6 into the Filter field
- network.dns.disableIPV6 should be found.
- Double click network.dns.disableIPV6 to disable IPV6
- Restart Firefox
