Get rid of Mac OS ._ resource fork files on non-HFS file systems
  • Symptom: The *._files* are where Mac OS X puts the resource fork of a file if it's not on a HFS or HFS+ volume, eg, UFS, or Fat16/32 or NTFS or NFS (or any of the linux file systems).
  • Solution:
    • Currenly there is no way to prevent Mac OS applications from generating those annoying files. However, you can run an script to clean up those files (or add the script to cron).
    • Here is the command/script:
find /Volumes/NON-HFS-Disk -name ._* -exec rm '{}' ';'
